Oorsprong van de Vedische levensstijl

Vedisch’ is afgeleid van de Veda’s, de oude geschriften van het hindoeïsme, die de leer van verschillende sadhu’s, yogi’s en goeroes bevatten.

De Vedische levensstijl haalt inspiratie uit deze geschriften en leert mensen het belang van balans en mindfulness terwijl ze door het leven navigeren.

In essentie vereist deze levensstijl dat je compassie, zelfliefde en discipline beoefent, waardoor je een dieper gevoel van doelgerichtheid krijgt.

Ayurveda en Yoga zijn de belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers van de Vedische levensstijl.
Maar als we dieper in de Veda’s duiken, leren we waarschijnlijk over zaken die ons dagelijks leven omvatten.

De 4 stadia van de vedische levensstijl

De Veda’s verdelen het leven in 4 stadia die Ashramas worden genoemd en die allemaal gericht zijn op persoonlijke ontwikkeling en groei.

De eerste heet Brahmacharya en richt zich op de dorst naar kennis.
Aan de andere kant is de tweede, Grihastha, gericht op familie en deel uitmaken van een gemeenschap.

Vanaprastha, of de derde Vedische levensfase, is bedoeld voor spirituele achtervolging, het bereiken van kennis van binnenuit.

Tot slot richt Sannyasa zich uitsluitend op een leven in volledige spiritualiteit.

Hoe een vedische levensstijl te leiden

Zoals eerder gezegd gaat de Vedische manier van leven over het in contact komen met je spirituele kant, waardoor je een diepere verbinding met de natuur krijgt.

Je moet vastberadenheid, discipline, zelfontdekking en compassie in je routine implementeren.
Bovendien, omdat herstellende praktijken essentieel zijn voor de Veda’s, vormen yoga en meditatie een integraal onderdeel van de levensstijl.

Daarnaast is schoon eten of vegetarisch zijn ook van het grootste belang, want wat we binnenkrijgen heeft een grote invloed op ons algehele welzijn, niet alleen op onze lichamelijke gezondheid.

Vedische yoga

Toch bevat de beoefening 8 ledematenDeze richten zich op verschillende aspecten van het leven en brengen het bewustzijn naar iemands spirituele kant:

  1. Yama: Beschrijft hoe ons gedrag in de maatschappij zou moeten zijn.
  2. Niyama: Beschrijft het gedrag dat iemand met zichzelf zou moeten hebben.
  3. Asana: De fysieke oefeningen om ons lichaam en geest te versterken.
  4. Pranayama: Ademhalingstechnieken voor hetzelfde.
  5. Pratyahara: Een brug tussen de wereld buiten en binnen in ons.
  6. Dharana: Concentreren op een object, aan niets anders denken.
  7. Dhyana: Concentreren op niets.
    Volledig loskomen van gedachten.
  8. Samadhi: Wanneer een persoon zelfs zijn/haar eigen bestaan vergeet en zich volledig overgeeft aan de kosmische ziel.

Vedische meditatie

Net als yoga kan meditatie niet los worden gezien van de Vedische levensstijl.
Zoals je weet, maakt deze beoefening het mogelijk om diep in jezelf te kijken en een staat van volledig bewustzijn te bereiken.

Hoewel het op verschillende manieren kan worden gedaan, gaat Vedische meditatie meestal gepaard met een mantra, een specifiek object of een geluid dat je in staat stelt om je te concentreren en zo het diepste deel van jezelf aan te boren.

Door regelmatig te mediteren zul je merken dat je stressniveau aanzienlijk daalt, je je emoties beter onder controle hebt en je mentale helderheid beter is dan ooit.

Het beste eraan is dat je het overal en altijd kunt doen, vooral als je een opkikkertje nodig hebt.

In het begin kan het beoefenen van meditatie moeilijk lijken omdat het vinden van je centrum niet zo gemakkelijk is als het lijkt, hoewel het volledig haalbaar is.

Normaal gesproken moet je dit doen op een plek waar je je helemaal op je gemak voelt, zonder afleidingen.
