Partie 1 – Les Yamas

La plupart d’entre nous pensent au yoga principalement en termes de pratique physique.
Mais comment interagir avec les autres et l’environnement et gérer nos problèmes dans la perspective du yoga ?

Vous est-il arrivé de vous comporter différemment à la maison avec vos proches, au travail ou avec vos amis ?

Peut-être qu’au travail, nous sommes patients et contrôlés et qu’à la maison, nous perdons rapidement notre sang-froid.
Ou encore, nous sommes très amicaux avec nos amis et de mauvaise humeur avec nos proches.

Nos attitudes et nos comportements influencent notre vie et celle des autres.

Selon la tradition de Patanjali, il existe cinq comportements, appelés Yamas, qui peuvent apporter sérénité et paix s’ils font partie de notre vie quotidienne.

1. Ahimsa

Ne pas nuire : ne pas faire de mal à d’autres êtres vivants ou à soi-même.
Commettre des actes de violence, ce n’est pas seulement tuer ou frapper quelqu’un au visage.

Nous commettons également des actes de violence lorsque nous ne recyclons pas correctement, lorsque nous ne prenons pas soin de notre santé, lorsque nous ne portons pas de masque ou que nous ne nous tenons pas à distance pendant la pandémie, et lorsque nous prononçons des paroles désobligeantes.

2. Satya

Vérité : nous devons réfléchir à ce que nous disons, à la manière dont nous le disons et à la façon dont cela pourrait affecter les autres – ne pas mentir, ne pas faire de commérages, agir avec intégrité.

3. Asteya

Ne pas voler : ne pas prendre quelque chose qui ne nous appartient pas.
Par exemple, si nous sommes toujours en retard à nos rendez-vous ou si nous profitons de la générosité de quelqu’un d’autre, nous ne pratiquons pas l’asteya (le non-vol).

4. Brahmacarya

Le bon usage de l’énergie : c’est le fait de détourner notre énergie des désirs extérieurs et de trouver la paix et le bonheur à l’intérieur de nous-mêmes.

Nous dépensons probablement beaucoup d’énergie pour plaire aux autres ou les impressionner, pour faire des choses qui ne nous servent pas vraiment.

Pour être la meilleure version de nous-mêmes et utiliser l’énergie à bon escient, nous devons d’abord écouter ce dont notre corps a besoin.
La folle activité s’avère être un mantra récurrent.

La question qui se pose est la suivante : que faisons-nous qui en vaille la peine ?
Comment nous sentons-nous intérieurement avec notre emploi du temps chargé ?
S’épuiser avec des personnes et des tâches quotidiennes qui ne nous satisfont pas n’est pas la solution.

5. Aparigraha

Ne pas saisir l’occasion : nous devrions prendre seulement ce qui est nécessaire et ne pas profiter d’une situation.

Si nous prenons plus que ce que nous avons légitimement gagné, nous utilisons quelqu’un d’autre.
Il s’agit également de se défaire des possessions matérielles et d’embrasser le changement qui est la seule constante de notre vie.

Certes, il faut une grande force pour suivre ces principes, mais plus nous avons foi en cette voie, plus nous avons d’énergie pour poursuivre nos objectifs.

Ces cinq principes moraux et la manière dont nous pouvons les appliquer dans notre vie quotidienne doivent toujours être considérés dans une perspective plus large.

Nous devons adopter un comportement réfléchi dans chaque situation.
Il est essentiel d’avoir des principes et d’y obéir, à condition que ces principes ne viennent pas perturber le bon sens.

Nous devons toujours nous interroger sur nos actions et nos pensées et ne pas suivre les règles aveuglément parce que quelqu’un nous a dit de le faire.
