houden.<br \/>\nSnijden in koolhydraten, afzien van vet &#8211; iedereen kent wel een voorbeeld van iets dat je probeert, om later weer terug te vallen in oude patronen. <\/p>\n<p>Het hoeft echter niet zo ingewikkeld te zijn, zoals de mensen van Okinawa hebben bewezen.<br \/>\nSinds ongeveer 100 jaar geleden hebben ze de confucianistische leer van Hara hachi bun me aangepast, die mensen vertelt om niet te eten tot ze helemaal vol zitten, maar tot ze 80% verzadigd zijn. <\/p>\n<p>Dit heeft ook zijn weg gevonden naar onze eettafel.<br \/>\nNatuurlijk is het soort voedsel van fundamenteel belang voor een gezond leven en daarom maken we er een punt van om alles met verse producten te bereiden en letten we verstandig op het gebruik van vetten, suikers en zout, maar als we eenmaal klaar zijn om te eten, is het gemakkelijk om een limiet te stellen en ons daaraan te houden.<br \/>\nOver het algemeen denken we er gewoon aan om niet te eten tot we vol zitten, maar eerder tot we geen honger meer hebben.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>De wetenschappelijke verklaring voor hoe dit effectief zou zijn bij het handhaven van een gezond dieet is eigenlijk heel simpel; als je zou eten tot je helemaal vol zit, rekt de maag uit om zich aan te passen, wat ertoe kan leiden dat je een hogere drempel bereikt naarmate de tijd vordert en meer voedsel nodig hebt om je vol te voelen.<br \/>\nStoppen bij 80%, zoals de Okinawanen al jaren doen, voorkomt dit en kan uiteindelijk leiden tot een lagere BMI. <\/p>\n<p>Natuurlijk betekent dit niet dat Okinawanen eten wat ze willen; hun dieet van vezelrijke groenten, volle granen, sojavoeding samen met een beperkte hoeveelheid vis en varkensvlees is ook een grote factor.<br \/>\nCombineer al deze dingen en het zal geen verrassing zijn dat de Okinawanen een van de hoogste percentages honderdjarigen (mensen van 100 jaar en ouder) ter wereld hebben: 50 per 100.000. <\/p>\n<p>Nu weet ik dat het veranderen van bepaalde gewoonten tijd kost.<br \/>\nBlijkbaar hebben onze hersenen 10 weken nodig om een nieuwe levensstijl aan te nemen voordat ze het zien als een normaal onderdeel van de dagelijkse routine.<br \/>\nMaar met de 80%-regel kun je gemakkelijk vandaag al beginnen.<br \/>\nZoals ik mijn wederhelft er graag aan herinner als hij een tweede portie overweegt: het tweede bord smaakt nooit zo goed als het eerste.   <\/p>\n<p>Gaan we honderd jaar leven volgens datzelfde principe?<br \/>\nWe kunnen het tenminste proberen!
