Geschichte des Yin Yoga

Wenn ich mich auf etwas Neues einlasse, möchte ich mehr über die Geschichte erfahren und wie die Vergangenheit es beeinflusst hat.

Deshalb möchte ich Ihnen Yin Yoga vorstellen, indem ich Ihnen einen Überblick darüber gebe, wie es sich bis heute entwickelt hat.

Woher kommt der Begriff “Yin Yoga”?

Sarah Powers prägte den Begriff ‘Yin Yoga’ im Jahr 2000, nachdem sie Paul Grilley begegnet war.
Davor hatte Paul seine Praxis als taoistisches Yoga bezeichnet.

In Wirklichkeit war Yin von Anfang an Teil der Asana-Praxis.
In den frühesten Büchern wie den Veden und dem Yoga Sutra war die Asana noch ein sehr kleiner Aspekt der Praxis.

Alles, was im Yoga Sutra über Asanas gesagt wird, ist, dass sie sthira und sukham sein sollen: gleichmäßig und bequem.
Verglichen mit dem Asana-Stil, den wir heute in den Yogakursen sehen, sind das eher Yin-Qualitäten.

Im Laufe der Zeit, als England begann, die indische Kultur zu kolonisieren und das Schulsystem zu verändern, begannen sich die Asanas mit den Formen aus den Turnhallen zu vermischen und die Yogapraxis wurde mehr und mehr zum Yang.

Das führte zu einem Ungleichgewicht, und Yoga konnte nicht weiter mehr und mehr Yang sein, ohne dass jemand einen Weg fand, es wieder ins Gleichgewicht zu bringen.

Paul Grilley kombinierte das Wissen, das er über Anatomie, daoistisches Yoga und die Meridian-Theorie erhalten hatte, zum Kern seiner Yin Yoga Lehren.

Was macht Yin Yoga mit unserem Körper?

Yin Yoga hat die gleichen Ziele wie jede andere Yogaschule. Allerdings wird die Stimulation, die normalerweise im Asana-Teil der Praxis entsteht, tiefer als das oberflächliche oder muskuläre Gewebe (das wir als Yang-Gewebe bezeichnen) geleitet.

Yin Yoga zielt auf das Bindegewebe ab, wie z.B. die Bänder, Knochen und sogar die Gelenke des Körpers, die bei einer aktiveren Asanapraxis normalerweise nicht sehr stark beansprucht werden.

Es ist die perfekte Ergänzung zu den dynamischen und muskulösen (Yang) Yogastilen, die die innere Hitze und die Dehnung und Kontraktion unserer Muskeln betonen.
Yin Yoga zielt im Allgemeinen auf das Bindegewebe der Hüften, des Beckens und der unteren Wirbelsäule ab.

Die Vorteile

Die Vorteile von Yoga sind hinlänglich bekannt und betreffen jeden Aspekt der menschlichen Gesundheit: körperlich, emotional, geistig und auch spirituell.

In diesem Artikel werde ich mich mehr auf die Vorteile des Yin-Ansatzes konzentrieren, der auf das Annamaya Kosha – den physischen Körper – abzielt.

In der Yoga-Asana-Praxis setzen wir unseren Körpern drei Dinge zu: Druck, Spannung und Scherung.
Wie bereits gesagt, konzentriert sich Yin Yoga auf das Bindegewebe und speziell auf die Stärkung und Gesunderhaltung Ihrer Gelenke.

Kontrakturen vorbeugen

Bei einem Verlust der Beweglichkeit eines Gelenks aufgrund von Krankheit, Nervenschäden oder Muskelschwund besteht die Behandlung in der Mobilisierung.

Durch Yin Yoga-Techniken bewegen wir den Körper sanft, aber beharrlich durch seinen erträglichen Bewegungsumfang und halten ihn dort.
Schließlich gewinnen wir den ursprünglichen Bewegungsspielraum des Gelenks zurück oder erweitern ihn sogar und bekämpfen Kontrakturen.
